Description
Provides pasteurized donor human milk to premature and sick babies whose own mothers can’t provide any or enough breast milk. The Milk Bank screens milk donors, collects and heat-treats (pasteurizes) donated milk and distributes it to hospitals. Donor milk is available by doctor's prescription and is prioritized for children with the greatest need.

Program Delivery
Eligibility: Donors must be screened and approved by the BC Women’s Provincial Milk Bank.
Languages: English
Application Process: A prescription from a doctor or midwife required to receive milk. Approved donors are asked to call before going to the hospital to donate milk.
Program Fees: A processing fee is charged for recipients outside of BC Children's and BC Women's Hospitals.
